Management: The Board

The Uganda Health Professions Assessment Board (UHPAB) was established under the TVET Act, 2025 and formalized through Statutory Instrument No. 25 of 2025. The Act was assented to in February 2025 by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.

The Board is the governing body charged with overseeing UHPAB’s strategic direction, accountability, and effective delivery of its mandate in the assessment and certification of health professionals under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) framework.

Board Composition

UHPAB’s Board is composed of seven members representing key constituencies within the health, education and employers/industry sectors. The diverse representation ensures inclusive decision-making aligned with national health priorities and training standards.

Leadership and Oversight

Led by Dr. Driwale Alfred, the Board provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure that UHPAB fulfills its core functions with integrity, transparency, and excellence.

The Board convenes regularly to deliberate on policy, accreditation, assessment standards, and sectoral alignment with national development goals.
